Are You Well-Adjusted? Then and Now

This consists of personal adjustment and emotional stability. Then I scored evenly in both areas. This time my score varied.

Personal adjustment then high average and a very high score now. Both state different but here is the then description which is similar to the now description. Then my "average score indicates that you have a moderate ability to adjust to life changes and stressors. However, improving your ability to adjust could help you with managing many of life's difficulties.
Life does not provide continuous stability. As Heraclitus said over 2000 years ago " The only thing that is constant is change." Therefore, since life can't be made to be stable and comfortable all the time, the more we are able to learn to tolerate change and discomfort, the more successful we can be at coping.
Creating the attitude of acceptance of what IS rather than focusing on what IS NOT allows you to be more comfortable and at peace even with discomfort and change. To do this it may be helpful for you to learn about the mindfulness concepts and creating more acceptance of the present".

The now description with a high score "indicates that you can adjust fairly well to changes and disruptions in your life. You don't tend to focus on what should have been but deal with the reality of the present. You can tolerate discomfort and frustration with an attitude of learning from problems rather than attempts to avoid problems.

This ability to adjust to changes in life allows you to cope better with stressors. As a result, you are not as likely to have the negative physical and emotional consequences of stress. You are likely to be more successful and happier with yourself and your life". Both indicate that I can manage the discomfort and focus on the present and not dwell on what should be.

Emotional Stability is the ability to handle life difficulties with calmness and composure. Then was a high average indicating "that you that you have a moderate ability to manage your emotions so that you don't have extremed fluctuations in your emotional state very often. However, you sometimes are at the mercy of how others treat you or the things that happen in your life. You could make some improvements in your ability to maintain emotional stability.
Many people believe that if only life treated them better, then they could be calmer and happier. However, the opposite is actually the truth. The more you can learn to be calmer and happier, the better life is likely to treat you. This is due to the psychological concept of self-fulfilling prophecy which is the tendency to create what we believe. In other words, if you believe that you will be miserable if a certain event occurs, you probably will be miserable.
However, the reverse is also true. If you believe that you will be able to cope and find a solution to your problems, the more likely that will occur. Therefore, learning to change your thinking regarding yourself and life will help you to be more successful and happier. The first step to doing this is to learn more about irrational thinking styles and how they can affect you".

My high score "indicates that you have a high ability to maintain control over your emotions even in the face of difficult life stressors. You recognize that your emotions are internally based and don't need to be influenced by outside factors, especially minor or moderate stressors. Certainly, in the face of major trauma or catastrophe, you are likely to have normal emotional reactivity. However, even then you are likely to manage your emotions and determine what you need to do to cope with the situation". Both indicating that I can control my emotions even at the mercy of others or the situation.
