Reflecting on Growth: 2024's End and Plans for 2025
Welcome to my final blog post of 2024! We’ve officially survived the whirlwind of year-end holidays, and tomorrow marks the start of a brand-new year. On a personal note, yesterday marked two months smoke-free for me.
Christmas week was a bit of a rollercoaster. My mood and energy were low—I wanted to be productive, but my body and mind had other plans. I wasn’t racing with thoughts, nor was I feeling down or sad. Instead, I just felt... still. No enthusiasm, no chatter. So, I gave in and let myself rest. I binge-watched Bones and slept, realizing that sometimes, listening to my body and prioritizing rest is essential to avoid burnout.
2024: A Year of Health and Transformation
This year has been all about self-improvement, particularly focusing on my health. While I may not yet have a full-time, "contributing to society" job, I’ve embraced a full-time role in managing my life. And that, in itself, is valuable work.
Here are a few milestones from 2024:
Fibromyalgia Management: I’ve taken active steps to better manage my chronic pain.
Diabetes Awareness: Keeping tabs on my levels and staying mindful.
Quitting Smoking: I finally quit cigarettes—a huge win!
Though I attempted to make the gym a habit, it didn’t stick this time around. But I’m not discouraged! Instead, I’ve set my sights on new strategies for next year, including working on my weight—a shift that could positively impact many of my health challenges.
New Year, New Tools
To kickstart 2025, I’ve signed up for Omo, which seems similar to Noom. My plan is to give it three months, evaluate its impact, and decide whether to continue, try something else, or tackle my goals solo.
This week, I explored the app, logging my meals and drinks, and diving into lessons about the psychology of eating. I’ve also taken steps to improve another aspect of my health: oral hygiene.
This is an area I’ve long struggled with, and the effects are clear—bleeding gums and inflammation after brushing. But I’m committed to consistency. With daily brushing, I hope to see improvement in just a week or so.
Looking Ahead
As we head into 2025, I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! While I don’t believe in traditional resolutions (let’s be honest, they rarely stick), I’m embracing goals and building healthier habits. My approach is to “tack” these new habits onto routines I already have—it’s all about integration.
So, what goals or “resolutions” are you setting for 2025? Let’s inspire and motivate each other to make this coming year a transformative one. Stay tuned for updates on my journey, and let’s keep growing together.
