Hey everyone,
I hope you're staying strong out there in these uncertain times. My wish is that this post brings a little hope and inspiration your way—something grounding to hold onto. Since today is July 4th, I want to start by saying:
🎆 Happy Independence Day, America! 🇺🇸
Now, let’s talk about where I’ve been, what’s shifting in my world (especially around health), and something important about the future of this blog.
Health Update: What’s New and What’s Working
It feels like so much has happened since my last post, even though it wasn’t that long ago. In the last month, I’ve had some medication changes, new additions to my supplement routine, and a deeper commitment to my well-being.
My fibromyalgia medication was adjusted and increased to help manage both chronic pain and the depression I was feeling.
We discovered my vitamin D levels were low, and my testosterone was below the normal range, so I started supplements for both.
I also began taking a pre + pro + postbiotic blend, CoQ10, and switched from Trulicity to Mounjaro, which has already resulted in an 8-pound weight loss since my last doctor visit.
💡 Side note: something that doesn’t get discussed enough—if you’re on statins, they can deplete your CoQ10 levels. Definitely something to keep in mind and talk to your doctor about.
Overall, my mood and fatigue are improving, but I’ve also noticed an increase in irritability. I really don’t like that part. Still, I’m hopeful that once everything stabilizes—especially hormone levels—it’ll settle down.
Health Kick vs. Health Focus: A Subtle but Powerful Shift
Earlier this week, someone mentioned I was “on a health kick.” And while I sort of agreed in the moment, it didn’t really sit right with me.
Here’s the thing: a health kick is something trendy—a short-term burst of effort before sliding back into old patterns.
But what I’m doing isn’t a kick—it’s a focus.
I’m being intentional. I’m listening to my body. I’m building something sustainable.
This isn’t just about weight or labs. I’m nurturing myself physically, emotionally, and spiritually. That part hasn’t gotten much airtime on the blog yet—but yes, I’ve been leaning deeply into my spiritual practice and aligning my health journey with that energy. It’s all connected.
And beyond that, I’ve also started reconnecting with my activist side—signing petitions, speaking out, and stepping back into causes I care about. For a long time, mental health struggles dimmed that fire, but it’s reigniting now.
About the Blog: A New Home on the Horizon?
This journey of healing and rediscovery has me thinking about the blog itself. This space started as a journal and a connection point. A way to reach others who feel unseen or overwhelmed. A place to speak truths that often get swept under the rug.
Now, I’m considering moving the blog to a new platform—something that allows for more customization, a dedicated “about me” section, and easier ways to stay connected (socials, updates, maybe even some exclusive content down the road).
But here’s where you come in:
👉 If you’re a subscriber—what brought you here? What do you enjoy reading? And would you follow me to a new blog home?
Your voice matters, and I want to create a space that feels even more us.
Thanks for sticking with me through this update. More changes are coming—but they’re good ones. Intentional. Aligned. And long overdue.
With love and fire,
Rusty 🖤✨
