🔥 Introduction: The World’s on Fire—and We’re Holding the Matches
I have been wanting to speak about this since the inauguration as I am not happy with the executive orders written or what's going on in this nation. It seems like every time we turn on the news or scroll social media, it feels like the world is on fire—and no one’s holding the matches. Inflation, unfair taxes, social injustice, corruption… and yet, somehow, the blame always falls on “the other side.”
But what if the problem isn’t the left or the right?
What if it’s not your neighbor with the different yard sign, or that stranger on Twitter?
What if it’s the 545 people in Washington who actually hold the power—and the fact that we keep letting them get away with it?
🧠 Charley Reese Nailed It—and It Still Rings True
Years ago, columnist Charley Reese wrote a powerful piece pointing fingers where they truly belong:
At 100 senators, 435 representatives, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices.
That’s it.
545 people making decisions that affect over 300 million of us.
Reese called out the truth: politicians create the problems we suffer through—then act like they’re the only ones who can fix them.
Here’s the kicker: They can’t do anything without our permission.
They only have power because we gave it to them—and we keep giving it to them.
💪 We Have More Power Than We Realize
We don’t write the budget, declare war, or pass laws. But we do vote.
We do show up.
We sign petitions, protest, call offices, email lawmakers.
And whether it feels like it or not—those actions matter.
They are just the beginning of what we’re capable of.
🐜 Let’s Talk About A Bug’s Life
“You let one ant stand up to us, then they all might stand up! Those puny little ants outnumber us a hundred to one, and if they ever figure that out—there goes our way of life!” – Hopper, A Bug’s Life
Sound familiar?
That’s not just a Pixar moment. That’s a political metaphor.
The people in power know we outnumber them.
That’s why they work so hard to keep us divided, discouraged, and distracted.
But we’ve got more power than they want us to remember.
We are the majority.
We just need to start acting like it.
✊ It’s Not Hopeless—It’s Ours to Fix
The frustration we feel? The rage? The heartbreak over what’s happening?
That’s not weakness.
That’s a signal.
A call to act—not just in presidential elections, but every single day.
✅ Write the email.
✅ Call your rep.
✅ Support candidates who care about the people.
✅ Show up for your neighbors.
✅ Challenge unjust laws.
✅ Vote like your life depends on it—because for many, it does.
And when it all feels too big?
Remember: there are millions of us. And that’s a number far greater than 545.
🧭 Final Thought: Stop Waiting, Start Leading
Charley Reese’s message still hits hard because it reflects a simple truth:
The system is broken because the people in charge want it that way.
But if we want change, we have to stop expecting those same people to fix it for us.
👉 It’s up to us.
So I ask you:
What’s one thing—just one—you can do this week to show up as the real boss of this country?
Let’s stop waiting.
Let’s start leading.
Because they outnumber us? No—we outnumber them.
And that makes all the difference.
